Viginia DOT official gets a grilling

In case you haven't been following it, since the tragic March death of trucker Jason Rivenburg (shot during a robbery while parked at an abandoned gas station off I-26 in South Carolina), the momentum behind a grassroots effort at countering the closing of rest areas in several states around the country has been afoot -- combine that with a two-hour parking limit at particular rest areas in Virginia, and you've got the makings of one heck of a radio talk show, I do say. Allen Smith, the man behind the BlogTalkRadio.com Truth About Trucking show, and the progenitor of the Trucker news-and-info-aggregating app on the iPhone, put together a program last week on these issues that featured Frederick and Michael Schaffner of TheAmericanDriver.com and a communications rep from VDOT. While the Schaffners were quite cordial, their questions were plenty incisive. Listen to it here.

Thanks Todd. Interesting listen and you're right - the questions did have a decent amount of incisiveness to them. I'll pass this along - we're all talking about it in the office now.
